In 1976, he acquired the adjacent Fairfax Memory Gardens and united the two cemeteries under the name Fairfax Memorial Park. Later he advanced and revamped the cemetery by catacombs and columbaria, pond and creek, and additional burial chambers and sorts. He also instituted Fairfax Memorial Funeral Homes in 2003. Subsequently, Neil giving up his work, his son, Michael H. Doherty (Mike) was selected as the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Fairfax Memorial Park.
